How to Apply for Financial Aid
The majority of pharmacy students borrow from a variety of loan programs to fund their education. Loans are money you borrow that must be repaid with interest, and some loans may involve extra fees.
If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you should apply for financial aid even if you have not yet received an admission notification.
1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible.
- Complete the FAFSA online.
- USC’s Federal School Code is 001328.
- Complete all student sections.
- To apply for a Health Professions Student Loan, include your parent information (regardless of your dependency status).
- You can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to complete the income section.
2. Complete the Financial Aid Supplement.
- Log in to USC’s Financial Aid Summary and Tasks (FAST).
- You will receive an email about how to log in.
If more information is requested, be sure to respond within 30 days. After you have been admitted to the PharmD program, you will receive notification of your financial aid eligibility.
Educational Loan Programs
Many kinds of loans are available to you through the School’s Financial Aid Office. Most pharmacy students borrow from a variety of loan programs to fund their education. Loans must be repaid with interest, and some loans involve extra fees.
Financial Aid Calendar
January 1
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens for submission.
Settlement month: Spring semester loans should credit to students’ USC account 10 days prior to the first day of classes.
June
Apply for Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan and/or private loan.
July
First-time borrowers must complete:
- Direct Unsubsidized Loan Master Promissory Note
- Direct Graduate PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note
- Entrance loan counseling
If you qualify for the Health Professions Student Loan and the Loan for Disadvantaged Students, you must complete your master promissory note. You will receive an email from webmaster@ecsi.net with instructions on how to accept and sign for the loan electronically.
