RESIDENCY PROGRAMS EVENTS
The USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (USC Mann) offers multiple ASHP-accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs. The pharmacy residency programs are designed to train resident pharmacists in developing advanced skills in pharmacy practice, teaching, research, and professional development.
USC Mann offers two categories of residency programs:
- Residency programs operated by USC Mann in conjunction with various clincial partners
- Affiliate residency programs operated by external sites with USC Mann oversight for designated activities associated with the Academic Pharmacy Learning Experience (APLE)

- PGY1 Pharmacy at Ambulatory Care Clinics of Los Angeles General Medical Center
- PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy at Los Angeles General Medical Center
- PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center
- PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy at Los Angeles General Medical Center
Academic Pharmacy Learning Experience
The Academic Pharmacy Learning Experience (APLE) is a longitudinal learning experience for PGY1 and PGY2 to develop skills in the core pillars of academic pharmacy, including teaching, research, and professional development/leadership.
Upon the conclusion of the APLE and the successful completion of required activities, residents will be eligible to receive a teaching certificate, advanced teaching certificate, and/or research certificate.
How to Apply
The USC Mann Pharmacy Residency Programs participates in the CSHP and ASHP residency showcase and hosts several in-person and virtual information sessions and open houses.
USC Mann abides by the rules for the ASHP Pharmacy Resident Matching Program. Applications for each program are accepted through the ASHP Resident Matching Program through the PhORCAS system, and applicants are ranked through the National Matching Services (NMS).
Requirements to be considered during the selection process include:
- Graduate or candidate for graduation from an ACPE-accredited degree program or one in the process of pursuing accreditation
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of California
- For PGY1 community-based residency programs, a supplemental application is required
- For PGY2 residencies, the applicant is completing or has completed an ASHP-accredited or candidate-status PGY1 residency
- Apply by Jan. 2 via PhORCAS
