This program focuses on specialty pharmacy practice and offers a unique opportunity to develop advanced skills in managing patients with complex, chronic, and rare disease states while working within a rapidly evolving area of pharmacy practice. Residents gain experience in comprehensive medication management, patient education, adherence monitoring, outcomes reporting, medication access and affordability, prior authorization processes, and interdisciplinary care coordination. Residents can rotate through a number of specialty disease states, including but not limited to rheumatology, neurology, pulmonology, immunology, dermatology, infectious diseases, oncology and hematology.
Through direct patient care, operational leadership, research, quality improvement initiatives, and collaboration with healthcare providers, residents develop expertise in delivering high-value, patient-centered care. Specialty pharmacy residency training prepares pharmacists to become clinical leaders who can optimize therapeutic outcomes, improve the patient experience, and address barriers to care across diverse healthcare settings.
