The USC Mann School hosted its inaugural fall symposium, “The Future of Pharmacy Business and Practice” on Friday, November 14, which brought together a diverse group of healthcare leaders from across the country.
Organized by the USC Mann Board of Councilors, the daylong event explored critical topics shaping healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry.
An overarching theme that emerged throughout the day’s discussions is that there are better ways to think about pharmacy and pharmaceutical business finances—and better ways to support pharmacists in how they care for patients.
Robert Popovian, chair of the USC Mann Board of Councilors and founder of Conquest Advisors, led the event’s planning and discussions with AJ Loiacano, CEO of Judi Health and Capital Rx, and Casey Cesnovar, vice president of U.S. Government and Public Affairs, Walgreens.

“We can conduct the business of pharmacy and the practice of pharmacy in a fundamentally different way, a better, more transparent way, in which patients benefit from payment models that actually make sense to them, employers can rely on pricing and contracting structures they understand, and pharmacists are recognized and fairly reimbursed for the critical role they play in caring for patients.”
The event was sponsored by Walgreens, Kabafusion, Medwatchers, Cencora, David and Espy Neu, David and Kelly Meek, Peggy Han and Family and Mel Baron.
