An Update From the Dean

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As we look ahead to the Thanksgiving holiday, I am grateful for all of those who support the work of the USC Mann School, and I am proud to share in this newsletter some of the innovative work happening here.

Last week, our Board of Councilors hosted a symposium titled “The Future of Pharmacy Business and Practice,” convening healthcare decision-makers and thought leaders from across the country.

We feature USC’s national pharmacy deserts mapping tool, recently made public for anyone to access—a project led by Dima Qato and aided by support from the National Community Pharmacists Association. We highlight Darius Lakdawalla, who was recently inducted into the National Academy of Medicine. In addition, we feature home infusion pharmacy trailblazer and philanthropist Sohail Masood, PharmD ’88, an esteemed USC Mann alumnus who has worn many hats during his more than 35-year career as a health care entrepreneur and CEO. Finally, we welcome recent USC Mann alumnus Alexis Brown, PharmD ’25, who has returned to campus as USC’s newest clinical sports pharmacy specialist.

As always, thank you for your continued support, which helps make the Mann School’s work possible.

Sincerely,

Vassilios Papadopoulos, DPharm, PhD, DSc (hon)
Dean, USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
