An Update from Our Dean

July 2020

Dean Vassilios Papadopoulos

Dear Friends of USC Mann,

This summer 2020 edition of our newsletter illustrates a few of the many ways that the school continues to open new paths forward in clinical care, pharmaceutical science and education, even as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt our day-to-day realities.

Our faculty, students and alumni have spent recent months conducting research, providing clinical and supportive services, sharing knowledge to help contain the novel coronavirus’ devastating impact, and preparing plans and resources to enhance instruction and clinical training.

I am pleased to highlight a few of these efforts in this update, along with a most generous gift the School recently received from Edward C. and Sandra Abrahamian. Their gift will allow the School to create endowments for scholarships and state-of-the-art instructional technology, named for Frank C. Abrahamian, PharmD ’59, and it will impact students for decades to come.

We also spotlight a few of our newest entering students, who are eager to learn, resilient, and ready to take on challenges to advance health.

As a community, we are stronger together—especially during challenging times like these. You and your family have my best wishes for your health and wellbeing. Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Vassilios Papadopoulos, DPharm, PhD, DSc (hon)
Dean, USC School of Pharmacy
