Titus Center for Medication Safety and Population Health

Proper medication use is crucial to better outcomes and patient safety, as well as to reducing avoidable healthcare costs. Established in 2021 through a gift from the estate of longtime supporter Susie Titus, the Titus Center for Medication Safety and Population Health works to ensure that patients get the right medication at the right doses with the best plan for taking them.

The Titus Center builds on the USC Mann School’s foundational work in connecting community pharmacists to patients with persistently uncontrolled chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and asthma. Helping people understand how to use each medicine correctly also helps avoid dangerous drug interactions when treating chronic conditions. The ultimate results will be healthier communities and more affordable and equitable care.

Vision

Achieve equitable health and community well-being through high-quality, evidence-driven clinical practice

Our Impact

Generating and disseminating new evidence on effective and accessible care is the key focus of all of the Titus Center’s efforts in research, practice development, education and advocacy.

Mission

Optimize population health outcomes by promoting outpatient pharmacy practice and clinical service delivery models that:

  • Are grounded in evidence
  • Recognize social determinants of health
  • Facilitate maximum patient access

We will advance this mission through targeted research, service delivery, stakeholder education, and policy advocacy

Together in this network of health plans, pharmacies and academic and professional organizations, we advance the pharmacist’s role in achieving healthier patients and communities through comprehensive medication management — the standard of care for assessing every medicine a patient uses to ensure appropriateness, effectiveness and safety.

Established in 2013, the USC Virtual Pharmacist Care Center partners with health plans, pharmacies, health systems, pharmacy benefit managers and other professional institutions to optimize medication use and safety while decreasing healthcare costs.

Key Partnerships

The Titus Center collaborates with a broad group of local, regional, and national stakeholders to fulfill our mission.
