The Progressive Degree Program enables current USC undergraduate students to complete an accelerated master’s degree in a related field in as little as one additional year.

By earning a master’s degree simultaneously with a bachelor’s degree, USC students have the opportunity to deepen their expertise, collaborate and engage with other graduate students, and take advantage of lower tuition costs with a decreased unit count, six to 10 fewer units than the traditional master’s degree.

Application Requirements

Before applying for a progressive master’s degree, USC undergraduate students must review the following requirements, which are standard across all progressive master’s programs:

  • Applicants may apply only once they have completed at least 64 total units of undergraduate college coursework, excluding any AP, IB or transfer units earned prior to graduation from high school
  • Applicants must have at least a 3.0 cumulative USC GPA at the time of application
  • Applicants must meet with both undergraduate and graduate advisors to develop a personalized course plan using the Progressive Degree Application form
  • No GRE, GMAT or other graduate entrance exam scores required
  • Progressive degree program students must fulfill all specified degree requirements for both the bachelor’s degree and the master’s degree
  • A minimum of two-thirds of the units required for the master’s degree must be at or above the 500 level
  • A master’s degree may be awarded simultaneously with, but not before, a bachelor’s degree is awarded
