Students, faculty and staff can drop off any unused or expired medications and other drugs on Thursday, Nov. 13, the upcoming bi-annual Drug Take Back Day at USC.
A partnership of USC Pharmacies and USC Student Health, Drug Take Back Day allows Trojans to safely turn in medications at all three USC Pharmacy locations:
- USC Pharmacy, King Hall (KOH), 1025 West 34th Street, on the USC University Park Campus
- USC Medical Plaza Pharmacy, located on the first floor of USC Healthcare Center 1 (HC1), Keck Medicine of USC on the USC Health Sciences Campus
“At USC Pharmacies, we’re committed to hosting Drug Take Back Day twice a year because finding a proper way to dispose of medicines can be difficult,” says Raffi Svadjian, executive director of community pharmacies and assistant professor of clinical pharmacy at USC Mann. “By hosting events like Drug Take Back Day, we can decrease the chances of unused medications leading to accidental poisoning, misuse and overdoes, and may help save lives and protect the environment.”
All pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter medications will be readily accepted by the disposal stations, which are registered with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Non-capped syringes are not accepted.
