One Million Vaccine Doses Administered at City Sites

The City’s vaccination program administered its one millionth dose on Thursday, April 15, reaching a major milestone in its efforts to vaccinate Angelenos and bring the pandemic to an end.

In partnership with the Los Angeles Mayor’s office, Los Angeles Fire Department, CORE, Carbon Health, and Curative, the USC School of Pharmacy helps operate fixed vaccination sites at Hansen Dam, San Fernando Park, Lincoln Park, Pierce College, Crenshaw Christian Center, Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles Southwest College, USC’s University Park Campus, and Cal State LA. Appointments at any of the fixed sites are updated weekly at Coronavirus.LACity.org/VaxAppointment.

“The students, faculty, staff and alumni of the USC School of Pharmacy are proud to work with the Mayor’s office, the City of Los Angeles, first responders, fellow health care providers, community organizations and other partners to reach this one million dose milestone,” said Vassilios Papadopoulos, dean of the USC School of Pharmacy.

“In a time of uncertainty, we witnessed the heart and strength of our community, and I am proud of the work that we have done,” said Richard Dang, assistant professor of clinical pharmacy at the USC School of Pharmacy, president-elect of the California Pharmacists Association and chair of the association’s COVID-19 Taskforce. “It is an honor to be a part of this historic journey and I look forward to the next million, to the next milestone.”

Since its launch, City-run sites have administered a total of 1,012,322 vaccines, or 96% of its current supply.

“Every dose administered is a step closer to defeating COVID-19 — and the first million shots can mark the beginning of the end of this pandemic if we all do our part,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “We have crossed a critical milestone on the road to health and hope. Now is the time to double down and get vaccinated as soon as possible, so we can reach the day soon when every Angeleno is protected from this virus.”
